Touring Victor Harbor in style
On our short holiday in Victor Harbor in March we were invited to visit my friend and fellow writer Rod and his good wife. Rod had promised me a tour of Victor Harbor in style – in his 1928 A Model Ford no less.
He dressed us up in a fancy hat – kept strategically at the front door for such occasions – and we were off, complete with picnic basket and thermos and the makings for afternoon tea.
It was a hoot waving royally to strangers as we chugged along in style.
I’ll post more photos in coming days.
Wittunga Botanic Gardens, Blackwood, Adelaide Hills
With plenty of lawn areas and picnic tables, Wittunga Botanic Gardens are an ideal place to relax. On my visit late last year I had a picnic lunch in the shade of one of the lovely eucalypt trees prominent in the gardens. Unfortunately I ate alone; my wife was unable to come with me on this occasion.
After lunch I strolled around some of the gardens trying to photograph some of the local birds. They were being shy and I didn’t see many. So I managed some lovely shots of trees, plants and flowers instead.

Wittunga Botanic Gardens, Blackwood, South Australia
Late last year I had an appointment in Blackwood, a suburb in the Adelaide Hills. After my appointment I had a picnic lunch in the beautiful Wittunga Botanic Gardens just a few minutes’ drive from where I had my appointment.
After my lunch I went on a stroll through the gardens with my camera. Many plants were in flower and I was able to get some beautiful shots. I’ll share these in the coming days.

Botanic Park, Adelaide, South Australia
Last spring we visited the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. This was after attending a food fair in a suburb a few minutes to the east. After our pleasant stroll through the gardens we stopped for a cuppa and picnic in Botanic Park. This open public area is between the gardens and the Adelaide Zoo.
Botanic Park is popular with families having picnics, for playing simple games with children and generally having a relaxing time. Throughout the year some major festivals utilise the area for displays, musical presentations and even drama. Today I share some lovely photos taken while we were have our picnic.
Lakeside Model Railway, Clare, South Australia
The Lakeside Model Railway at Clare is a five minute stroll from my daughter’s house. It is situated in a lovely park like setting next to Lake Inchiquin, a popular picnic spot next to the Clare Country Club and Golf Course. On a regular basis model train enthusiasts hold meetings here on their extensive track layout. Rides on the model trains are extremely popular.
